Elliot Lake Skating Club

 

CanSkate

Canskate is the national learn-to-skate program from Skate Canada. It teaches the fundamentals of skating in a progressive manner. Canskate is for boys and girls of all ages to learn to skate or to improve the skills they already have. Not only it is the entry program to other programs offered by Skate Canada, it also teaches the basic requirements for Hockey/Ringuette programs.

**Helmets are required for all children five and under, and are recommended for older children with limited skating experience.

Junior Skate

This program includes group figure skating lessons for beginning figure skaters. The four areas to be covered in this program are

·         Skating skills

·         Dance

·         Free skate

·         Interpretive skating

  Extra Ice/ Primary lessons

This program is for members who wish to

skate and train independently and/or those

 who wish to have private/semi-private

lessons. Extra ice time is highly recommended

for skaters who are intending to excel

in this sport.

As members of the E.L.S.C., skaters will have the opportunity to participate in the Annual Ice Show and various competitions if desired.
 
The Elliot Lake Skating Club is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and certified Professional Coaches. Fundraising is essential in order to provide these programs and to keep registration fees to a minimum. The deposit per term will be refundable upon participation of two fundraising events.

**Private and Semi-private lessons are to be booked by parents directly with Kim O’Grady. These lesson fees are not covered by the cost of ice time, and will be billed directly to the parent/guardian.

General Information

 

Appropriate Skating attire for all programs include:

  • Sharpened skates
  • Skate guards
  • Warm stretchy clothing (pants must not fall below ankle)
  • Gloves/mitts
  • Helmet if required

The club uses the bulletin board at the arena for communication.  It is important that parents check information on a regular basis.

The mandatory registration/insurance with Skate Canada is valid for the entire season.
